The Asics Gel-Blur 33 is a lightweight, wide-platform, full-range running shoe that still allows for road shock absorption while not interrupting a runner’s stride.
A simple way to describe this particular sneaker is that it is a minimal shoe with cushioning and support.
If you take a look at the available variations, you’ll notice that there are a number of attractive, colorful designs both for men and women. The men’s versions contain more simple 2 to 3 color combinations whereas the women’s have more eye catching color schemes.
Aptly named for the 33 bones in the feet, Asics’s Gel-Blur 33 is part of the popular minimalist movement in the running world that still allows for natural movement of the foot, while still maintaining the comfort that Asics are known for.
Built lightweight (less than 10 oz. for men’s and 8 oz. for women’s) and with superior rear foot gel cushioning system, it strongly reduces impact and road shock but allows for a smooth transition in a runner’s gait.
The heel collar of the shoe is built-in with memory foam, forming to the runner’s heel providing a comfortable and custom formed fit.
The toe-box of the Asics Gel Blur 33 is wide and comfortable, giving plenty of room for toe splay.
The best part of this particular running sneaker is the midsole. For this component, Asics uses the Solyte EVA material, which is lighter than those that were used in previous Asics shoe midsoles. This giving the runner a responsive and springy response to road shock.
The outsole on the shoe allows for Asics highest level of flexibility in a running shoe to date, thanks in part to the carved vertical flex groove that extends from the heel to toe, allowing for the foot to maintain the most comfortable and natural gait of the runner.
One of the shoe’s strongest points is its ability to support and accommodate the forefoot and midfoot strikers as well as those runners prone to heel strike. Neutral runners will also be pleasantly surprised with how light and non-constrictive the Gel-Blur 33 running shoe is. Allowing their foot to move in a natural and comfortable way.
The shoe is extremely well ventilated and comes equipped with Comfort Dry Sock liner which wicks away moisture, thus killing the bacteria that creates unpleasant odors and providing a much more healthy and comfortable environment to run in.

Aside from the nice outer appearance and cushioning system, one of the major draws of this Asics product is the relatively lower cost. While many of the running shoes today are priced around $100 and above, these cost just over $60, making them among the more affordable running sneakers.
In general, many of those who’ve tried on the Asics Gel-Blur33 2.0 fall on one side or another. One one end you have those that like the lightweight feel that is combined with the cushion and flexibility that lets you feel comfortable. Ont the other end, you have those who feel too much stiffness and motion control, with an upper that isn’t able to give you that snug fit.
