Brooks Adrenaline 12 review

September 9, 2015 by Runnerpro

From first look at the Brooks Adrenaline 12, it is obvious that it has been revamped and updated from its predecessor the Brooks GTS 11.

With a new upper design that is both striking and fashionable bit still bearing the strong resemblance of Brooks brand of shoes and yet adhering to the high quality of performance and quality that is associated with Brooks athletic shoes.

Brooks Adrenaline 12

The 12th iteration of the Adrenaline GTS offers a stability running shoe that doesn’t need to be heavy. It is also less restrictive compared to its stiffer competitors, yet effective in correcting the overpronation that users want it to.

Ideal for different types of activities, this pair of sneakers works best in dry conditions, as with many athletic footwear. And while majority of users use it for running a few miles daily for distance or endurance, it works well as a walking shoe, something you’d use in the gym or even trail running.

We begin with the sole unit of the Adrenaline 12. Here, the biggest and most notable change is in the heel pad. The heel pad in the Adrenaline 12 is split into different pods which compress and respond differently to each runner’s individual gait.

The added cushioning in the heel provides a high level of comfort while assuring a firm fit across the back of the heel, preventing those with flat feet from sliding inwards during their stride.

For stability, the shoe relies on two major parts: the progressive diagonal bar and the plastic shank right below the arch, which Brooks refers to as the DRB Accel. These provide cushion in two main areas: the heel and in the forefoot.

The Adrenaline 12 comes equipped with the Brooks DNA. DNA is a high-viscosity fluid that remains soft and pliable when the runner is running at a low pace and staying in contact with the ground longer and then becomes hard and more firm when the pace is picked up; propelling the runner forward.

The medial post along the arch of the shoe provides maximum stability while giving the runner an excellent balance in their gait.

The Brooks Adrenaline 12 also comes built with the Bio MoGo, which provides excellent foot support and makes it the perfect shoe for runners with a low to mid arch.

The upper unit of the Adrenaline 12 is made of a mesh overlay, providing an environment that is not prone to moisture, thus creating a much more comfortable running experience.

The top of the shoe comes with four adjustable straps, giving the runner the control over the level of fit across the top of the foot. Brooks added the new lace tab, called the “Tongue Tab” on the Adrenaline, which keeps the tongue of the shoe in place while running and ultimately giving the runner a more firm and secure fit.

While maintaining the same look that is recognizable to the Brooks brand, the Adrenaline 12 has been adapted to be lighter than its earlier predecessor which will always be welcome news to any serious runner.

Asics Gel-Blur 33 review

September 8, 2015 by Runnerpro

The Asics Gel-Blur 33 is a lightweight, wide-platform, full-range running shoe that still allows for road shock absorption while not interrupting a runner’s stride.

A simple way to describe this particular sneaker is that it is a minimal shoe with cushioning and support.

Asics Gel Blur 33

If you take a look at the available variations, you’ll notice that there are a number of attractive, colorful designs both for men and women. The men’s versions contain more simple 2 to 3 color combinations whereas the women’s have more eye catching color schemes.

Aptly named for the 33 bones in the feet, Asics’s Gel-Blur 33 is part of the popular minimalist movement in the running world that still allows for natural movement of the foot, while still maintaining the comfort that Asics are known for.

Built lightweight (less than 10 oz. for men’s and 8 oz. for women’s) and with superior rear foot gel cushioning system, it strongly reduces impact and road shock but allows for a smooth transition in a runner’s gait.

The heel collar of the shoe is built-in with memory foam, forming to the runner’s heel providing a comfortable and custom formed fit.

The toe-box of the Asics Gel Blur 33 is wide and comfortable, giving plenty of room for toe splay.

The best part of this particular running sneaker is the midsole. For this component, Asics uses the Solyte EVA material, which is lighter than those that were used in previous Asics shoe midsoles. This giving the runner a responsive and springy response to road shock.

The outsole on the shoe allows for Asics highest level of flexibility in a running shoe to date, thanks in part to the carved vertical flex groove that extends from the heel to toe, allowing for the foot to maintain the most comfortable and natural gait of the runner.

One of the shoe’s strongest points is its ability to support and accommodate the forefoot and midfoot strikers as well as those runners prone to heel strike. Neutral runners will also be pleasantly surprised with how light and non-constrictive the Gel-Blur 33 running shoe is. Allowing their foot to move in a natural and comfortable way.

The shoe is extremely well ventilated and comes equipped with Comfort Dry Sock liner which wicks away moisture, thus killing the bacteria that creates unpleasant odors and providing a much more healthy and comfortable environment to run in.

Aside from the nice outer appearance and cushioning system, one of the major draws of this Asics product is the relatively lower cost. While many of the running shoes today are priced around $100 and above, these cost just over $60, making them among the more affordable running sneakers.

In general, many of those who’ve tried on the Asics Gel-Blur33 2.0 fall on one side or another. One one end you have those that like the lightweight feel that is combined with the cushion and flexibility that lets you feel comfortable. Ont the other end, you have those who feel too much stiffness and motion control, with an upper that isn’t able to give you that snug fit.

Nike Lunarglide+ 4 review

September 5, 2015 by Runnerpro

Runners needing a lightweight option yet still desiring maximum support, this shoe is a good fit. The Nike Luarglide+ 4 is designed with medium arch support for runners who overpronate, otherwise known as striking the ground on the lateral side of the heel.

Nike Lunarglide 4

The added arch support saves money for those who might have to purchase additional arch support insoles. The only negative component of the arch support is that it may not be quite enough support for those who have severe flat feet. Also, runners who have too high of an arch will want to use their own inserts.

Another essential feature is the breathable mesh material that keeps feet cool. One of the main concerns with mesh material is the difficulty of keeping feet dry. However, the Lunarglide has a splash-guard around the toes to protect the toes from getting wet.

Another benefit of the Nike Lunarglide+ 4 is that while runners enjoy plush comfort on their feet, they can also take pleasure in the Nike+ running appkeeping track of workouts, calories burned, mileage, and set personal goals.

There is secure traction thanks to the flexed grooves promoting an efficient stride. These grooves are not particularly deep, so they are not best suited for trail running. However, the grooves do allow for easy flexibility with the sensation of the shoe molding with the position of the foot throughout a stride.

This shoe performs best while running on pavement, track, or treadmill. It’s environmentally preferred rubber allows stability for long distance running. The heel clip also increases stability while keeping the heel from rolling out, a feature particularly suited for heel strikers.

Runners who are not heel strikers, may feel the heel is too high or irritating. The higher heal clip ensures a snug fit which is not too tight. However, this makes it more difficult to get the shoes on and off.

PROS

  • Lunarlon techonology provides supreme comfort and relieves joint pressure

  • Affordable for variety of runners
  • Heel clip increases stability

New Balance 1260 review

September 5, 2015 by Runnerpro

The New Balance 1260 running shoe is a stability cushioned running shoe developed by New Balance for the high-mileage runner.

Because it is made for those who will run excessive mileage on a weekly basis this shoe is not a heavy shoe but it possesses outstanding shock absorption capabilities.

New Balance 1260

This takes off some of the stress on the foot and joints allowing you get back out on the road daily.

New Balance has created a midsole that consists of its ABZORB FL technology which provides a runners feet with excellent cushioning. This is essential for those runners who are putting in excessive mileage because on those long runs comfort is essential. It also acts as an added shock absorption layer for people who’s feet structure doesn’t offer enough cushion.

There is nothing more painful for a runner than to be experiencing foot discomfort in addition to the mental and physical challenges that one encounters in the midst of a ten to fifteen mile run. To help address this possibility New Balance also put the ABZORB Strobel Board throughout the length of the shoe to provide further shock absorption and comfort capabilities.

Long distance runners need a very strong and stable shoe because the majority of their training runs will take place on cement, the most unforgiving surface that a runner will be subject to.

The stability component of this shoe cannot be underestimated because it is in the midst of a long run that mental fatigue will lead to improper foot striking and a runner potentially turning an ankle. As such, the Ndurance rubber compound that New Balance has used for this shoe has made it a very stable shoe that a long distance runner can depend on during their runs.

The New Balance 1260 running shoe’s Stabilicore medial support system provides for enhanced heel strike to toe-off running foot strike so that a long distance runner is running in the most optimal manner to achieve their training objectives.

The New Balance Stabilicore medial support system also helps a long distance runner avoid the calf injuries that can result from an individual not running with too much of a flat foot and not an enhanced heel strike manner.

One of the most intriguing aspects of this shoe is New Balance’s new N-Energy shock absorption technology. With the shoe having been made for the high mileage runner it was imperative that New Balance find a way to help absorb the pounding the feet endure on the long runs.

The implementation of this technology in the New Balance 1260 running shoetransfers the energy from the contact with the ground throughout the foot and thus prevents the foot pounding from being centralized in any one part of the shoe.

This is a very important attribute for those who engage in high mileage runs because it reduces the likelihood or potential for injury to those who are prone to overpronating.

This shoe also has an external heel counter that provides the runner with additional rearfoot stability and in doing so supports the optimal heel strike to toe-off running gait that is desired by high mileage runners.

The New Balance 1260 is ideal for long distance training or those who want to be able to go out every day to get their run in.

The Midsole of the ProGrid Stabil CS2 athletic shoe has Saucony’s new shock absorption technology and as such is very footwear choice for heel strike runners. This Saucony offering is strong enough that it can be worn for long distance walks and runs on cement and also on cross country trails.

For People with Overpronation Issues

Saucony created this shoe to help runners deal with overpronation. They accomplished this goal with the creation of the CS Zone in the shoe which deals with a runners overpronation but did not make the shoe so rigid that one feels like their foot is in a strait jacket.

The Saucony CS Zone combined with the SRC Impact Zone and SRC Forefoot cushioning to help transfer the energy created by impact throughout the foot thus limiting the stress on the feet. This represents the best of Saucony’s foot absorbing technology.

Outsole with Good Traction

A runner will appreciate the outsole of the shoe as it is made of carbon rubber that provides outstanding grip on the road when running and provides extra shock absorption but without the weight that one would expect to be associated with added support.

Asic GT-2170 review

September 5, 2015 by Runnerpro

The Asic GT-2170 running shoe is loved by runners who are loyal to the brand.

Performance runners prefer the Asics brand as much for the stability of its products as for the company’s commitment to improve every new model they release.

Asic GT 2170 running shoes

The colorful appearance and light weight of the GT-2170 are both selling points for old fans and new users alike.

The GT-2170 is lighter than its predecessor and gets praise from long time wearers who claim that when they run they have the sensation of floating through air. This model includes larger GEL units which add to the feeling of stepping onto a cloud at every landing.

The cushioning makes it a good running sneaker for people with flat feet. This also works well for heavy runners, meaning not just those who weigh a lot but also those who have ‘heavy feet’. The GEL cushion system works to relieve the impact’s effect on the joints.

It has a breathable synthetic/mesh upper increases air flow to the foot, which makes for a cooler and much more comfortable step.

This colorful running sneaker is built so that the forefoot gets ample cushioning, while the heel area, equipped with the Rearfoot GEL Cushioning System, gives the runner safe, snug support.

Overall, this Asics running shoe is stable with enhanced grip, thanks to the DuoMax Support System, which makes the transition from heal strike to toe off smooth and effortless. It also guards against the tendency to overpronate which is found in flat footed runners.

The podiatrist (APMA) approved arch support and well-guided stride is most impressive for runners of average arch height, a feature which will please runners with neutral to severe overpronation. Runners with extra wide feet may, however, want to consider a different shoe as the give in the forefoot area is rather stingy. As a side note, brands like New Balance and Brooksoften offer more toe box space.

Not only do runners love this product, but parents buy them for their kids as well. With colorful good looks and durability, these make the ideal type of footwear for having a blast on the playground. Its mobility and light weight can be attributed to Asic’s Space Trusstic System which provides support so that the shoe’s arch does not break down during wear. In fact, all of the things that make this a great choice for runners make this an ideal athletic shoe for people who enjoy wearing comfortable footwear all day long.

Other features of the GT 2170 running shoe include Asic’s Guidance Line andImpact Guidance System (I.G.S), a design which assists the runner by giving an efficient push to his or her gait.

A double layer of memory foam in the heel area creates a personalized fit for the wearer. Asic’s name for this technology is Personal Heal Fit (P.H.F) and it works well with their other technology, AHAR, which is ASICS High Abrasion Rubber that comprises the outsole material that creates a stable grip.

Comfort is enhanced by dual density Solyte lasting material in both the forefoot and the heel, and the extremely breathable upper-fittedComforDryTM sockliner.

The Asics GT 2170 running shoe is definitely one you will find at any marathon, and it’s usually worn by the best and most dedicated runners. It is popular among runners and casual wearers alike that you’ll fit right in with the one group of people who really matter – the ones who enjoy wearing comfortable sneakers be in for a leisurely jog around your neighborhood or a high impact training session in the track. Mizuno Wave Inspire 9 review

September 5, 2015 by Runnerpro

The Mizuno Corporation has remained true to their corporate philosophy since they were founded in 1906 which in-part states their goal of “advancing sports through cutting edge technology and research.”

One of Mizuno’s products that meets this criteria is their newest version of Wave Inspire 9 running shoes.

Have you taken their sneakers for a test drive? If you want to give your feet an upgrade for this year’s training season: read this review, learn more about the Wave Inspire 9 running shoes, and see if this set of athletic foot gear is the right one for your workout needs.

Right amount of support

An important part of a running shoe is the amount of support in them. Support should not be too soft; neither should the it have a stiff sole. TheMizuno Inspire 9 is built to give support for moderate overpronators; that means those of us whose feet naturally turn inward a little.

The main area of support is on the medial side (inner portion) where it’s important to have extra support in the midsole. In the case of this pair of sneakers, Mizuno uses plastic plates that are inserted into the midsole that help correct the over pronation motion. This helps people with flat feet from putting too much pressure on certain areas of the foot and distributes the impact forces in a more balanced manner.

Lightweight

This version of the Wave Inspire are light as a feather. The lightweight, glove-like fit will make you forget you still have any footwear on. Some runners even do their errands running in their these because they feel so comfortable. The lighter weight can be attributed in part from the mesh upper, which also adds a comfortable airflow around your foot. They also removed a lot of the overlays that do contribute to the weight, essentially leaving you with the most important components.

Great colors

While foot support and stability are the most important elements of running shoes, great colors can be an additional plus to brighten your attitude, specially if looks are important to you. This is partially why Nike is such a great seller among the younger generation.

These pair come in several bright and bold colors for women (Zinnia, Malibu Blue, and Anthracite/Silver/Aruba Blue) and for men (Lime Punch, Malibu Blue/Blazing Yellow/Black, and Silver).

Smooth Ride Engineering

Mizuno’s Dynamotion fit creates a rocking-chair-like transition from heel to toe when you are running, giving you an excellent stride whether you are running for pleasure or competition. The Dynamotion fit moves easily through your stride and even helps to improve your stride.

While this pair of sneakers is ideal for road work where it cushions the impact of the pavement, it also works well for those working out on their home treadmills.

In picking out running gear, manufacturers and runners have now become so sophisticated that there are so many factors involved, including comfort, fit, support, traction, appearance, just to name a few. But if you want a good pair of running shoes for flat feet or overpronation this is a something that offers a roomy, durable and supportive feel.
